The colony is in a tree approximately 20' off the ground. Time there unknown. Discovered when the tree was blown over in a severe windstorm and a yard service came to cut up and remove the downed tree.
To save the bees and their genetics I have stabilized the feral colony and am leaving them alone as they were just discovered and I fear if I moved them they would not survive the winter. So I am going to retrieve them in the spring hive them and let them generate their own queens and swarm as they will in the future. My attempt to replenish the feral population.
