Hardy colony at least four years in this knothole of a sycamore tree about 8 ft. off the ground. Appear to be Carniolan but have not verified this. Easy to find - on the edge of the dog run behind the Glen Park Canyon rec center on the path up to the fire road. Look for the tree nearest the giant Eucalyptus that is inside the triangle of paths/roads where the creek goes into a culvert. The colony entrance is facing the rec center. On a warm day you can easily smell their honey.
