Wild honeybee hive near St. Augustine, FL

Reported March 28, 2011 · Coordinates shown rounded for hive safety

50' off the ground in the leaf canopy of an oak tree. Noticed it about 1 year ago when much of it fell to the ground. The size changes. On private property.

We noticed the hive in the tree tops when most of it fell to the ground. It was full of honey and bee larve. The bee's reclaimed the honey. The hive was small through this past winterit is growing again and getting larger. I'm curious to see if it will fall again this year. It seems the little twigs and leaves cannot hold the weight of the hive. This is in the open in the leaf canopy of a large water oak 50 feet up. Always tons of bee's in my yard and garden. My friend is a local beekeeper and she looked at what fell.
