Hive has built nest in the summer of 2010 exposed attached to a tree branch of a live tree.
This is on my farm and I am extremely protective of this beautiful hive. I fear for their survival as I live in the mountains and winters are harsh. It is in the middle of a Christmas Tree field build around a tree branch. I have beautiful pictures. There used to be a hive in an old house nearby. I am interested in any chance of helping this hive survive and fear weather and idiots with guns. I fear there may not be enough honey for their survival as they started late in the summer to early fall. I first found the hive around Oct 15th but it has grown since. The lower half is all that has honey. Is there such a thing as supplemental feeding? Any help would be appreciated. Can this hive be relocated to the old house by cutting off the branch to provide shelter? I have no experience but have always wanted to learn more and would love to become a beekeeper in retirement (soon).
