The hive is in a large live oak tree 15 ft. off the ground and the swarm located there in April 2009. The tree is at our homeplace at the end of our driveway.
We saw a swarm in April of this year congretating on a Wisteria branch about 4 ft. off the ground. They left and came back then disappeared. A couple of days later we noticed them coming in and out of a hollow in a large live oak tree about 15 ft. off the ground. We've never noticed a hive on our 3 acres before and know of no nearby feral or cultivated hives. The previous year we put in an above-ground pool and noticed honey bees drinking near the filter. We think the water source was a factor in the bees locating to our property. I would like information about providing a safer drinking source for the bees. Thanks Peggy Jo Nadler
