Feral honeybee hive. In branch cavity of silver maple tree in backyard of 255 Ivyhurst Cir along wooden boundary fence. Hive est about 2005. Cavity entrance: 3long2 wide. Ht: 10.5' Aspect: S60W - excellent for winter sun. At least 2 swarms.
Hive is former squirrel den. Foraging activity best if 45oF. But bees active even in winter temps mid30sF if calm sunny; bees feed on sap drips from pruned branches. Foraging bees active all day; pollen sacks full. Bees non-aggressive; no stings yet. Big(?) comb: Honey(?)oozes from cracks between bark. // Have photos of hive.
